Pakistan NFG Strategic Planning process is in full swing

On the 13th of June, the Shehersaaz Network in Pakistan, which is currently acting as the IFRTD-affiliated network in the country, hosted a meeting for the current leading actors in the Rural Transport field in Pakistan. The meeting was well attended with representations from different organisations.

Some of the outcomes of the meeting are:

  • More meetings are needed to formalise the network in Pakistan.
  • A working group comprising all the participants of the meeting will be established to pave way for the establishment/extension of the National Forum Group.
  • A strategy will be drafted to be approved by the working group in the next meeting to be held at National Rural Support Program (NRSP)
  • World Bank and Devolution Trust for Community Empowerment (DTCE) will also host one meeting each of the group.
  • The meeting will be regularised and groups/forum will meet every three months.
  • The network will be institutionalised and algined with in the objectives of IFRTD.
  • A bibliography of literature on transport in the context of Pakistan will be prepared.
